Before you start

You will need:

  • Your 6-digit Retailer Number for existing locations
  • Federal Tax ID (FEIN) or Social Security Number
  • State Tax ID last 4 digits
  • Valid email address for login and communication
  • Dedicated bank account for Lottery EFT settlements
  • Voided check or bank letter with routing and account number
  • Proof of Ownership or Lease documents
  • Liquor License number if applicable
  • Do not make financial investments or binding agreements until officially approved by the Michigan Lottery.

Michigan retailer application materials list a nonrefundable $150 application fee. Payment can be made online through The Pay Place or mailed to Michigan Lottery, Attn: Retailer Services, P.O. Box 30023, Lansing, MI 48909.

Michigan Lottery retailer application requirements

  1. Complete the Retailer Application.
  2. Submit Personal Data Sheets for owners or shareholders.
  3. Complete IRS W-9 Form.
  4. Complete EFT Authorization Form.
  5. Provide supporting business and banking documents.
  6. Submit payment confirmation for the application fee.
  7. Wait for additional installation approval if Lottery equipment is not already installed.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, disclose criminal history and legal issues, maintain acceptable credit history, confirm ADA compliance, and disclose bankruptcies, tax defaults, or lawsuits. The Lottery may require a bond before approval.

Michigan Lottery weekly settlement and operating rules

The sales week runs Tuesday through Monday, invoices are available every Tuesday, funds must be available for EFT withdrawal on settlement day, and retailers must maintain a separate Lottery bank account.

Retailers must display the Lottery license publicly, sell tickets only at the licensed location, redeem winning tickets up to $600, report equipment issues, report theft or security incidents, and keep ownership or business changes current with the Lottery.
